Luboš Odlas

Born June 22nd, 1963 in Luby, which has been famous for producing some of the finest hand-crafted stringed instruments in the world since the 16th Century.

His Father Otakar (1963) is a violin maker and a musician, and his Mother Jarmila (1943) worked in Luby's Cremona - the largest producer of stringed instruments in CR. The strong influence in the family made a decission of a small boy to play clarinet and piano.

Luboš is a graduate of the Music Instruments School of Amati in Kraslice as a master saxophone and clarinet maker, and the Military Musical School in Kroměříž as well. After a short time he was a specialist of oboe maker at the Amati factory in Kraslice where he worked there.

His Father established the Atelier Saldo to demonstrate the superior craftsmanship of music instruments, first of all the finest bows. It was a chance for ambitious Luboš who has got the great teachers, the master bow makers Rudolf, Neudörfer and world famous Sasan Mitsuaki from Japan. He took practical training by well known Bow Master Tibor Kovácz in 2014 Luboš creates his master bows from Pernambuco wood and his model is Sartory, but he has his own design, too.

His bows play top musicians, solist or orchestra players, music academies in the U.S.A., Japan, but also in major European countries. Master Václav Hudeček, a violin virtuoso famous around the world, plays his bow, some of the Wihan Quartet, and also winners of International Competitions.

He participated in the International Compettion in Mittenwald in 2005. His violin bow was placed in the 6th position, and his cello bow in the 12th place.
He won the first price and the golden medal for his bow at the International Exhibition "Violin: Soul an Shape" in Moscow which was held from 10. to 14. September, 2014, and a special ward for the best quality of bow.
